Mojito Recipe
White Rum • Lime • Mint • Sugar • Soda. Cuban white rum muddled with fresh mint leaves and lime wheels. Serves 1, in a highball glass.
Ingredients
- 45 ml white rum
- 6 lime wedges
- 8 mint leaves
- 2 tsp sugar
- 60 ml soda
- crushed ice
Method
- Muddle lime, mint and sugar in the glass.
- Add rum and crushed ice.
- Top with soda and stir from the bottom.
Serving tip
Garnish with a mint sprig. Use fresh mint for the cleanest aroma.
Prep ahead and variations
Measure the spirit with a jigger, chill the glasses and cut garnishes shortly before service. Juices, purees and syrups can be measured and chilled a few hours ahead, which keeps service quick. Fresh garnishes should look bright, and clean, plentiful ice is the quiet hero of every glass. Taste before serving and adjust sweetness or acidity to suit the day, because fruit varies by season. Variation: Pre-muddle the mint and lime in a jug to speed up service at big events.
